A Michigan native Skylar started her prevalent dance training at age 4 in all areas of dance. While being a competitive dancer with Steps Dance Company in Portage, Michigan, she has had the privilege to train under top choreographers in the industry. At Steps Dance Company she specialized in Contemporary and Jazz while also taking ballet and hip hop. With her natural sense of leadership and unique conceptual choreography, Skylar spent her early years of high school as an in house teacher at Steps Dance Center as well as a captain for her high schools dance team where she performed at basketball games. Skylar has had the opportunity to assist highly sought after choreographers including, but not limited to: Amanda Anderson, Tokyo, Melissa Barlow, Eddie Mena, and Alvin Ramirez. Where she has traveled the country, setting award winning choreography as well as assisting countless in studio intensives. Skylar’s versatile background, and exuberant passion to be in a leadership role truly adds to her talents as a dance teacher and choreographer.
Skylar is currently studying at Michigan State University, she is also a member of the MSU Dance Club. Skylar is currently instructing competitive and recreational dance classes with KIO!
