KIO Competitive Dance General Information
If you are interested in taking your dancing to the next level, then we recommend that you evaluate for our KIO Dance Studio Competition team. You will make new friends AND learn the value of teamwork.

Our instructors are all top-level performers and dancers and have a passion to help you achieve your dreams with dance. Our team competes at various competitions regionally/nationally and attends dance conventions.
Dancers ages 5-19 that evaluate receive placements in the appropriate groups per your level of dancing.
TEAM EVALUATION PREP CLASSES MAY 2026
- 2026-2027 Dance Season
- Three Weeks: Wednesdays May 6th, 13th, 20th
- Cost of course is $40.00 per dancer.
- Class Age & Time: Ages 5 – 9 @ 4:45 PM – 5:30 PM & Ages 10 @ 7:45 PM - 8:30 PM

Important Evaluation Notes:
- Packet: Once pre-registered, you will receive a registration packet via email. Bring the completed packet to your evaluation.
- Invite Only: Solos, duos, trios, and special groups are by invitation. Invitations are emailed 2 weeks prior; dancers must prepare 6 eight-counts of self-choreography.
- Alternative Options: Private/semi-private evaluations available at an additional fee. Email kickitoutdance@gmail.com to schedule.
Team Dancers HS Senior, Super Senior Opportunities
Dual Solo Eligibility
Dancers entering their senior year of high school or super senior, may now be eligible to compete with up to two solo routines, subject to formal teacher recommendation. This expansion allows our most experienced performers to showcase a broader range of technical and artistic proficiency during their final seasons.
Choreography Apprenticeship Program
Dancers within the Team Senior division (ages 15–19) may be invited to assist with choreography development sessions. This program is designed for students interested in pursuing creative leadership and provides a behind-the-scenes look at the technical aspects of routine construction.
- Participation: Voluntary and by invitation only.
- Scheduling: Sessions will occur during the summer months and outside of standard technical class hours.
- Focus: Collaborative leadership, creative direction, and assistant coaching.
KIO Dance Studio: Competitive Team Information 2026-2027 Season
Competitive dance at KIO is designed for dedicated dancers ready to elevate their skills through hard work, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our program focuses on building confidence, technical excellence, and lifelong friendships.
Team Pathways & Commitment Levels
Three Dancer levels: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. With Level 3 designed for our most technically advanced dancers.
Full Team (Ages 5–18)
- Commitment: 6–10+ hours/week in class (Mon, Wed, Thu).
- Requirements: Strength training, Ballet, TLF, additional event performances, summer training, and Nationals.
- Performances: 3–4 Regionals, additional event performances, multiple conventions/workshops, and Full Team Line.
Intro Team (Ages 5–18)
- Commitment: 3–6 hours/week in class (2–3 days).
- Requirements: Ballet, TLF/Strength, additional event performances, summer training, and Intro Team group number.
- Performances: 2–3 Regionals.
- Optional: Nationals and conventions.
Super Senior (Ages 18–19 / Recent Graduates)
- Commitment: 4–8 hours/week in class. Focus on Full Team Line and selected groups.
- Requirements: Strength/TLF. Ballet is highly recommended.
- Performances: 2–4 Regionals.
- Optional: Nationals and conventions.
Adult Team (Ages 18+)
- Commitment: 3–6 hours/week in class (Tue/Thu). Separate from the youth program.
- Performances: 1–2 Regionals.
- Optional: Nationals and conventions.

Key Policies
- Attendance: High attendance is mandatory. Missing the week of a competition results in ineligibility for that event. Regular attendance issues will be addressed case-by-case at discretion of the Director and Lead Competition Instructor.
- Placements: Staff selects all levels (1, 2, or 3) and classes.
- Team Commitment: Families are required to attend all scheduled team events and uphold the organization’s sportsmanship standards.
- Financial Commitment: Families are responsible for the full season's tuition upon enrollment; students that drop will be responsible to continue full season payment.
- Injuries: Participation post-injury/illness is at the discretion of the Director and Physician.

Registration fee, Evaluation fee and Media fee must be paid prior to evaluation.
Tuition: Billed monthly. Accounts must be current by Dec 1st to continue participation.
Shoes: All shoes must be ordered by our vendors to ensure uniformity.
Class Attire: Requirements are available from our vendors.
Volunteer Policy: ALL Volunteers need to have a completed background check assessed. Event dates will be added to the studio calendar as they are finalized. If you need to rescind a volunteer commitment, please email Sara (saram.kickitout@gmail.com) and CC Ms. Denise (kickitoutdance@gmail.com).

- Working with, respecting teammates, director, and instructors are important for success.
- Hard work and dedication are necessary for a well-rounded teammate.
- Performing in front of an audience can be fun and help with building confidence.
- Gracefully receiving feedback is necessary and using that feedback for all around improvement is important.
- Appreciation for dance as an art and understanding the competition experience is about growing as a dancer through experience, skill, and maturity.
- Practice makes progress; no two dancers will progress the same.
- Displaying sportsmanlike conduct is important at all times.
- Dance team experience translates into valuable life skills & helps to form relationships that will last a lifetime!
